Joseph Batista, a man of few words and a humanist at heart, returns to Marseille after a brilliant thirty-year career in Paris. He has a compelling reason to come back: he discovered he has a daughter and a grandson he never met. Lyna, now an investigating magistrate, is determined to make him pay for his absence. Meanwhile, Samy Kaddourian—a brilliant but chaotic lawyer shouldering an immense mental load as a single father of three—defends the very suspects Batista aims to put behind bars. This hypersensitive, clingy lawyer and the cop who is too proud to show his emotions constantly cross paths on criminal cases; though on opposing sides, both are fighting to deliver justice. They will get to know one another, clash, and gradually grow to adore each other... eventually realizing they may well have found their alter ego.
