La Belgique des écrivains

Belgium is a paradox: once a European battlefield frequently threatened with annexation, its capital is the heart of European institutions. Yet Belgium is marked by the temptation of separatism; it is a sort of schizophrenic laboratory of Europe—a deeply divided country.

The situation in the literary sphere is emblematic. There are two languages ​​and two linguistic communities that no longer read one another’s work. It is rare for a work to cross linguistic barriers—for a Fleming to find success among Walloons, or vice versa...

Is there, then, a Belgian literature that brings together authors from both these languages?
