Ça va passer… mais quand ?

One fine March day, Patrick (a sales manager for a kitchen retailer) breaks some big news to his wife, Sophie (an executive assistant), and their two children, Paola and Juju (aged 13 and 9): come the start of the next school year, he is set to manage a new store the company is opening—150 km away from home! The prospect delights Sophie (who dreams of a big house and a third child) and leaves Juju completely indifferent, but it triggers a mixed reaction from Paola... who storms off to her room and blasts her music. Patrick, annoyed, is about to follow her, but Sophie holds him back: their daughter needs to get used to the idea! Besides, she’s been a bit tired lately—acting a little strange—surely he’s noticed... It’s just her age; she’ll grow out of it...!

Except that… it’s a no-go.

Not by a long shot…

Thus begins an uphill battle for Patrick and Sophie—soon to be officially branded "parents of a teenager in the throes of a crisis"—made all the worse by the logistics of the move; Paola eventually announces (among other major decisions…) that it is "out of the question for her to leave her middle school and go bury herself in some godforsaken town just so her dad can sell crappy kitchens to moronic customers."
