2008. It began as an ordinary incident—an act of sabotage on a railway line, the likes of which occur by the thousands every year. But this time, everything would be different; the judicial investigation launched in the wake of the incident was opened not for "destruction of public property," but for "terrorism." The machinery was set in motion. The great spectacle of the Tarnac affair was underway.
